Thailand has become notorious for its sex trade. Although prostitution is technically illegal, “Thailand’s reputation as a hotspot for sex tourism has persisted, and the country has been in the headlines whenever issues such as human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children make the news.” New Life Holland Aid is deeply involved in the New Life project in Chiang Mai. The New Life Center Foundation works exclusively with young ethnic minority women throughout the Mekong sub-region (Thailand, Burma, China, and Laos) who are at risk for, or victims of, human trafficking, forced labor, and sexual abuse.
Since its inception in 1987, the NLCF has partnered with the Royal Thai Government and international NGOs as the Beter-uit Hulpfonds the Netherlands and the New Life Holland Aid fund the Netherlands, to provide legal, psychological, and repatriation assistance. As chairman of the New Life Holland Aid fund I visit the New Life project regularly and I am impressed by the results.
New Life Holland Aid is sponsoring the safe house (see picture). These girls have been involved in child prostitution or are in danger of child abuse.
